Hunter Class Nationals

by James King The 2017 Hunter Nationals are now a thing of the past, but what a fantastic regatta. This year the Nationals were incorporated with Keelboat Week 2017 which once again was an exceptionally well run affair. Kudos to the team at Deneysville Aquatic Club. I always like to take a look at the representation of clubs on the entry list. The greater the variety the healthier the class. Not many keelboat classes can boast a representation of nine ... Sixteen Finns took part in the regatta; a smaller turnout than usual, but it was a very competitive fleet. Only two ‘Classics’ were on the entry list this time; all ... Read More »

Old Flying 15 Gaffers make a Gaff!

By Richard Crockett The Old Gaffers of Campbell Alexander and Jeremy Kriek made a real hash of things on Tuesday after failing to read the Sailing Instructions carefully, and did not go through the start line each round! “We were first round every buoy today in moderate to fresh breeze with nice chop or wave, but didn’t read the SIs properly, so was DSQ in first race. Things are a bit quirky here, and I just didn’t expect that clause ... Read More »
