Message from the President of SA Sailing

I would like to clear up a misunderstanding about the “Pathway” document that was posted on the SA Sailing Facebook wall on 14 January under the heading “Here is the new SAS class structure.  Open for comment.” This particular document as it appeared did not in fact reflect a “new SAS class structure”, and had not been approved by the SA Sailing Council or any of the Regional EXCOs.  It was actually one of a number of “work in progress” documents ... Mykonos Race 2014 – results & pics

From all accounts another great event. Despite the wind not playing ball on Friday and the bulk of the fleet retiring due to no wind (there were 10 finishers) the pursuit race on Saturday made up for it. South African Sailing (SAS) Classes & the Olympic Pathway

Guidelines for SAS Classes Preamble: All Government funding, National Lottery grants, Funding from SASCOC (our national Olympic committee) and the International Olympic committee relies on South African Sailing having an Olympic pathway and a clear development of sailors in that pathway. Development of all classes is the responsibility of the class associations and SAS is there to assist classes with that development. First edition of Finn Masters Magazine published

The Finn Class has published the first ever edition of the Finn Masters Magazine and Yearbook. During discussions at the 2013 Finn World Masters in La Rochelle, France, the idea of a dedicated magazine for the ever growing number of Finn masters was put forward. Midsummer Fling Regatta – Mount Gay Al Wins

  The Midsummer Fling regatta once again provided some excellent racing in Table Bay, with Mount Gay Al winning 5 of the 6 races in IRC. Their sponsor hosted a Mount Gay party to launch the new brand in RSA, with pretty girls serving this delicious rum. In Division 1, JJ Provoyeur took the honours on After You just a shade ahead of Ray of Light (Michael Kavanagh). Hobie KZN GP2 Regatta

hobie KZN GP2 overall results A beautiful hot day at the beach with 10Knotts of wind was the order of the day on Sunday the 9th of February. Harken Round Robben Island Race

Harken RRI Harken RRI OA by Luke Scott Foggy overcast conditions greeted a fleet of 42 yachts before the start of the biannual Round Robben Island Race with Harken. The impressive middle distance fleet comprised of 22 Division 1 yachts, 8 Division 2 yachts, and 12 Division 3 yachts.
