The husband and wife team of Tony and Sigi Bailes who compete on their Fast 42 Nemesis, have entered.
This team was one of the first to enter this years race, and sailed an exceptionally good race in a boat that was still relatively new to them. They finished 3rd over the line and 3rd overall on the IRC division.
They also won the ABYC Trophy for the first Algoa Bay Yacht Club trophy across the line.
This is a highly motivated team who will undoubtedly do much better as they get to know their boat and will have ironed out all the issues they had earlier this year. Despite breakages and malfunctioning gear, they hung in and failed to give up showing great ‘vasbyt’ which an important ingredient of ocean racing.
That aside Tony and Sigi are wiley sailors who know how to hang in and make a boat go fast.
There are indications that the Algoa Bay Yacht Club could field 4 entries in this race.
