South African Sailing (SAS) Awards – Nominations Required

sas_logoEvery year SAS have 4 trophies which can be awarded annually.

Nominations can be made by anyone as long as they are accompanied by a full written motivation which has to be submitted to the SAS Chairman, Mike Dixon (chairman@sailing.org.za) by Friday 1 August.

Owen Aisher Trophy
Awarded to the Senior South African sailor, being a member of SAS and of a yacht club affiliated to SAS, who is considered to have made the most meritorious achievements in sailing for the calendar year 2013.

Consideration of the award should take the achievements of South Africans who have competed in overseas events into account.

Stan Jeffrey Trophy
The trophy is the annual award to a single South African Yachtsman or Yachtswoman, being a member of SAS and of a club affiliated to SAS, who is considered to have made the most meritorious or outstanding individual contribution to the administration of the sport, in the year 2013

Gordon Burnwood Trophy
Awarded to the South African Yachtsman or Yachtswoman, being a member of SAS and of a yacht club affiliated to SAS, and resident in South Africa, who is considered to have made the most meritorious ocean race or passage, sailing in the year 2013.  The boat must be on the South African Sailing registry.

David Butler Trophy
Awarded to the Junior South African sailor, being a member of SAS and of a yacht club affiliated to SAS, who is considered to have made the most meritorious achievement to sailing in South Africa in the year 2013

Consideration of the award should take the achievements of South Africans who have competed in overseas events into account.
