William Edwards

Hobie sailors have done our country proud for many years as they have consistently finished on the podium in World Championship events. One of these is William Edwards, who together with his wife Lucinda, make an awesome on-the-water team.

In Australia’s Jervis Bay they set the world stage alight in the opening event of the 2014 Hobie 16 worlds by winning the Hobie Masters title in a tight battle, edging out fellow countrymen Blaine Dobbs who had his daughter Roxanne crewing for him.

How good it was to see two RSA teams on the podium, but as this award is about individuals, it goes to William, a loyal ‘Hobie-catter’ for so many years, and someone who is always in the hunt when the competition is red hot.

Although eligible for the ‘Masters’ division in Hobie sailing, Edwards will also be competing in the ‘Open’ division where he will undoubtedly give many a youngster a thoroughly good lesson on just how to sail a Hobie 16!
