Laser 4.7 Worlds – SA Team report

laser 4.7 worlds 01Martin Lombaard reports

The WiFi is not working at the guesthouse so finding it difficult to stay in contact. At the yacht club the kids hog the bandwidth!!!

3 days of racing have been completed with the conditions really light and shifty – about 5 knots.

Day 2 both the boys were finding the competition and conditions very challenging.
Georgou Divaris finished 24; 19; 18
Sam Lombaard finished 22; 21; 21

Day 3 the boys were both in different fleets. Georgou did really well scoring a 3; 6; 6 moving into 19th overall.

Sam started with an 8 then a 21 and 26. and 44th overall.

There are 8 races to go, so lets see what these bring.

The boys are finding the starts very hard as you do not have it all your own way as one does back home in small fleets and amongst less experienced sailors. They are learning a lot and now know what is now needed to compete at this level – and in a fleet of 66 boats.
