In the ISAF World Cup Miami regatta the RSA team of Asenathi Jim and Roger Hudson nailed a 4th place in the medal race in the Miami Olympic Classes Regatta.

They were hot on the transom of the world No1 and ahead of the teams finishing 1st, 3rd, 5th & 6th overall in this 44 boat fleet.

This result gave them joint 7th overall on points with the crack French team of Bouvet and Mion, currently ranked 6th in the world. France’s win in the final race split the tie in their favour.

This is by far the SA team’s best performance in a top grade ISAF World Cup event. Given that their express goal since London has been to make the medal race in Rio, it’s encouraging that they are approaching that level at this stage.

It’s worth noting that this was a very nearly full strength 470 fleet. Only 4 teams in the current world top 30 were not in Miami (only 1 missing from the top 10 and 3 missing from the next 20).

The smiles In the pic says it all!

Well done guys – you are both an inspiration and hope for our sport.
