With a light mist covering the lake we prepped our ourselves for the first day of the Garda Olympic week. With three races planned on a course shared by the 49ers, FX and 470 fleets it was going to be a day of waiting for our turn on the course.

At the last minute the fleet petitioned the RC to change the split fleet format in favour of a single fleet. So once the decision had been made the fleet was released after the FX fleet. We hoped to arrive at the course with the FX’s on their second race but they had only just started their first. So we waited for the FX and 470 fleets to get their races in and then it was our turn.

Wind was not settled with big pressure changes and switches making life interesting with lots of snakes and ladders. We had 3 good starts but got pinned on the left in the first race. And then some swims undid our good work in the second and third races. So a little frustrated with the day, but it was for everyone in the fleet. This has left us in 29th position over night with all still to play for.

Today has dawned clear and we are ready to take it up a notch and go enjoy the day’s racing in this spectacular location.
