South African Sailing (SAS) in conjunction with Henley Midmar Yacht Club and the Department of Sports and Recreation successfully launched the Midlands Sailing Development Project over the weekends of 17th and 31st August. Two open days were held which were free to the general public and anyone interested in the sport of sailing. A reader of “Talking Sailing” issue 22 recently queried the existence of the East Rand Yacht Club, and whether as a club it is still active. As a result I have a delightful and news response from a former Commodore, Brian Mathiesen.
