I have always received good reports about Hermanus Yacht Club as a great sailing venue with a very friendly membership, so when today’s headline popped up, I felt it was worth sharing for several reason, one being that it gives some early history of the Club.
Plus, Hermanus YC won the Lipton Challenge Cup contest last year and will be defending it later this year.
The magazine report opened like this: “Though it may read like something out of “Alice through the Looking Glass”, the strange thing about the Hermanus Yacht Club is that it didn’t happen before it did.
“The ideal site, snuggling beneath the towering rampart of Maanschyn Kop has waited through the centuries for the fulfilment of its purpose – the establishment of a Yacht Club in a beautiful setting on the shore of the magnificent Klein River Lagoon.
