Day 18 Wed 220800GMT Daily Position Report PRINT
I have watched with extreme interest the performance of Iskareen throughout this race. She is a light 34-footer that has being sailing exceptionally well all race.

In the last 24 hours she has chewed up 247nm of South Atlantic Ocean, far more than comparable sized boats, as well as those bigger than her. That gave her an average speed of 10 knots – not bad going for a small boat.

As a result she had, at the time of reporting this morning, 118nm to go to the finish. Looking at the weather charts she may just be luck and have reasonable breeze all the way in, but as in ocean racing – time will tell!

However, I bet that this crew never expected to be in the top 5 to finish?

Privateer has now finished (according to the tracker anyway) although her elapsed time has not been made available. 4th across the line, she was well sailed – especially being 2-up.

Just 7 boats have under 1000 nautical miles to go, with the others still have a number of days to go, especially if the wind stays light.
