Todays reports show one thing very plainly and very simply – there has been little wind for the last 24 hours.

Of the top 7 boats, Privateer has clocked up the most mileage of 204 nautical miles in 24 hours at an average speed of 8.5 knots. The slowest has been Yolo which covered just 85 miles. How frustrating for all these guys.

This also interprets into one harsh reality check, and it’s simply this – none of the boats at sea have any chance of beating Maserati on handicap. So all the boats are now sailing for second place.

Adding to this frustration is that just 2 boats have less than 1000 nautical miles to go, so for the rest of the fleet they have an agonisingly long race still to sail. Compound this to the fact that they are sailing for the minor placings will not make things any better out there.

Mileage in the last 24 hours with average speeds are as follows fro the top boats:

Scarlet Runner               151 nm        6.29 knots
Iskareen                           145 nm       6.04
Privateer                          204 nm      8.5
Investec Ciao Bella        119 nm       4.09
Explora                           163 nm        6.79
Yolo                                 120 nm        5.00
