Competitors woke up to a 6-10 knot North North Westerly which allowed race 5 to start at the scheduled 10h00. The wind faded towards the end of the race and died after the lead boats had finished resulting in the back quarter of the fleet in the Dabchick and Optimist classes failing to finish in the time limit.

Race Officers Di Hutton Squires and Evelyn Osborn brought the fleets ashore for an early lunch and then sat it out till an 8-12 knot East North Easterly came through and allowed two more really good races on both courses. Race 6 got under way at about 15h00, the wind gradually freshened up to about 16 knots for race 7.

In the Dabchick Fleet BYC’s Ryan Robinson has six firsts and an eight point advantage over second placed Warwick Strutt from IYC while IYC’s Michael Hoyle has a two point advantage on Sonya Stock from ZVYC in their battle for third place.

In the Optimists and epic battle is in the making with one point separating RCYC’s Zander Brooks and Matt Ashwell from ZVYC. Keagan Nel, James Vonk, Calum Gaughran, Duncan Hawksworth and Alex Falcon are all within 10 points of each other and with the second discard coming into play after race 10 are all in the hunt for third place. With the wind settling in from the South West this morning (Wednesday) we are going to see some very competitive and exciting racing in the Optimist fleet today.

In the Laser Radial fleet Calvin Gibbs, Yogi Divaris, James Hellstrom and Marcello Marcia are separated by 6 points and once again an exciting duel can be expected during the final five races.

In the Laser 4.7 the Kai Leslie and Chad Bilsbury are separated by 2 points and In the 420’s Michaela Robison has a 4 point advantage over Zak and Jaco Bester, with third placed Nic Faraday and Wade Ashton a further five points off the pace.
