Notice of Intention
V & A Waterfront
30 March 2018 – 2 April 2018 (Inclusive)
On behalf of SA Sailing WC Exco we are pleased to announce that it is our intention to sail our Western Cape Championships 2018 in Table Bay, launching/docking at the Waterfront Basin. Various meetings have already taken place regarding logistics etc and there are more to follow.
The venue was chosen with the intention of capitalising on vast numbers of both local and foreign visitors spending time at the Waterfront on the Easter weekend; thereby allowing us to showcase and promote all disciplines of Sailing. This is an amazing opportunity not to be missed and it is therefore imperative that all sailors support and participate at the WC Champs 2018.
Our Sub-Committee is also in the process of approaching Sponsors for this event.
Boats will be delivered and collected 1 – 2 days before/after the event to avoid congestion and frustration; an exclusive area has been secured onshore together with Security as well as Medics, media, contracted photographers, food and beverages, ablution, sailor’s lounge, etc. Boats will be towed in/out of the launch area while the bridge is open creating yet another show to the visitors on the bridge. As you can imagine, the display on the water will be priceless.
In the meantime, it is of great importance that we provide our Partners with an estimated number of boats participating as each boat will be allocated safe, overnight docking space in the Basin at the Waterfront. We cannot proceed negotiations without this figure and you are urged to please indicate your positive participation to Wendy at saswc@sailing.org.za before 1 December 2017.
As before, Class Chairs are requested to contact us without delay should you wish to incorporate your Class National event at the WC Champs 2018.
All volunteers and Safety boat owners are kindly requested to send their details to Wendy. Please indicate how you would like to participate (Bridge, Safety, Boat owner, Registration, Results, other).
Looking forward to your support in raising Sailing awareness to the next level at the V&A Waterfront.
