With interest in the race from Durban to Port Elizabeth beginning to fire people’s imagination, the 9th entry has been received – and this comes from a boat owned by race stalwart Gerrie Boshoff, Herbie Karolius and Rex Anderson.
Rocket is a Simonis 54 which competed in the Cape to Rio Race last year under the name of “Stop Rhino Poaching’.
She will be skippered by Herbie Karolius who is no newcomer to the race, and who will undoubtedly bring a host of his ‘Vaalie’ sailing mates along too as they will be racing with 8 crew on board. And these guys always mean business by sail hard on the water – and often leading the partying at the finish.
Rocket is currently based in Cape Town and is coming to Durban for the winter season.
