As a bonus this report from May 1985 also contains a review of the False Bay Keelboat Championships.
“Those that missed it will be eternally regretful and those that did not, will remember it for a long time. Once again it all came together for the Western Province Sailing Association at Saldanha Bay for their annual Dinghy and Sailboard Championships over the Easter weekend. Even a wet greeting on the Saturday could not dampen the spirits and so strong were the vibes that the mist and rain let up about 11h00″ was how the author, Roger Bartholomew, opened his report.
The largest class was the Lasers with 58 boats, the Sonnets with 34, and the Fireballs with all the top guys there to duel it out. The line-up across all classes was impressive, and the page of “people pics” will bring back memories for many.
The False Bay Keelboat champs for Flamencas and Buccaneers had a small fleet with Nigel Clack winning the Flamenca Class and Jan Reuvers the Buccaneer Class.
