Today’s report on what Dalling was up against racing across the North Atlantic, gives an historic perspective of how this race was conceived, and the fact that in 1959 when Colonel Hasler proposed the race, he found only one contender – Francis Chichester.

These two formidable opponents were prepared to race each other across the Atlantic for half a crown!
