“Talking Sailing” From My Archives. The Langebaan 100

by Richard Crockett

Some multihull news today with coverage of the Langebaan 100, a hobie longhaul from Cape Town to Langebaan – non-stop and with very strict selections for crew and stringent safety requirements.

Many a top Hobie sailing name can be seen in the results, plus many not seen in the sailing scene today. It was interesting to see Rick Nankin and Rob Meek teaming up, despite not being regular “Hobie-ites”.

It’s a detailed report with full results and elapsed times at the Dassen Island mark as well as the finish.

Will there ever be another one of these longhauls?

As a bonus, there’s also a report on the “windless” WP cat champs.
