“Talking Sailing” From My Archives. Sprog Observations by Hellmut Stauch

by Richard Crockett

There is probably no one better than Hellmut Stauch to comment on the Sprog in the May 1957 “Sprog Log” issue as he was a top sailor in almost every class he sailed, plus he won the 1957 Sprog Nationals.

He specifically mentions Ralph Willcox, who at 8 years old at the time, sailed three races with this Maestro in the Nationals. I wonder whether Ralph, an avid supporter of this Blog, remembers the occasion?

It’s an interesting read accompanied by a hotch-potch of Sprog pics from yesteryear.

There is also reference to the “Gorps Guzzle” which I have written about previously. Do today’s “Sprogites” know about the “Gorps Guzzle”.

Please LIKE, SHARE and COMMENT, and remember that I am on the hunt for old Sprog Logs to complete my collection.
