“Talking Sailing” From My Archives. Some Respite for Now

Speed and distance covered in the last 24-hours has improved marginally, and looking at the synoptic charts for the area they are sailing towards, the fleet should have some wind for a few days, although there are still light patches ahead to frustrate them.

The leading two cats were neck-and-neck yesterday, with ‘Aventurerio 4′ sailing just 1nm further than her rival ‘Norhi’.

It was the monohulls which clocked up the biggest distances yesterday with ‘Audaz II’, ‘Ray of Light’ and ‘AlexForbes Archangel’ covering 162nm, 155nm and 147nm respectively.

Worst performing on the day was ‘Nemesis’, the second most southerly yacht, with just 40nm on the clock for the day. That will not sit well with them as they are a competitive team who have a personal duel with ‘Ray of Light’ which is almost the most northern boat in the fleet, and doing more than double the speed of ‘Nemesis’.

For the sake of all those at sea I do hope that they will get in a good days sail today without the light patches of the past days.

Of course this report would not be complete without the news from days of yore.
