A good way to kick off this week is with several different features on keelboat and dinghy sailing around the country.
So the start guns fires with a feature on the Stannic South Star race, singlehanded to St Helena and Back in 1986. Tony Abbot, Ian Duncan, Bertie Reed and Paul Rodgers competed, and spoke briefly to Neil Rusch prior to the start.
No quite a report on the race, “Looking into the eye of an Albatross” is an account of one man’s experience of the 500-mile single-handed qualify cruise for the SouthStar. It’s a very interesting and personal account, well worth a slow read over a cup of coffee.
Also included is a report on the Sea Harvest Race from Cape Town to Columbine, Lamberts Bay and the finish in Saldanha. Rob Meek reported on the race which he described as follows: “The Sea Harvest offshore event lived up to its reputation of being one of the most enjoyable races around our coastline”.
“Durban Dinghies Duel”, a report with several pics also features as does a very brief report on Highveld “keeling” at TYC.
So there lots to enjoy today.
