Yesterday, having shared information on the nine possible contenders to race ‘Voortrekker’ across the Transatlantic singlehanded, a decision was made in early October 1967, and Bruce Dalling was selected from a short list of four.
This comes as no surprise as most of us knew that anyway! I am simply using this newspaper cutting today to add an important piece of history to this epic race.
Dalling was just 29, yet a highly accomplished young man. “I am confident that, with the sort of teamwork shown in getting this project under way, we are likely to be successful” he said.
