I have decided to change tack having given Bruce Dalling and ‘Voortrekker’ saturation coverage for a long time now. There’s lots more to his story, and indeed that of ‘Voortrekker’ as I still have 9 scrapbooks of his to digitise and archive.
So today I decided to share one of the very first sailing tests of the ubiquitous Holiday 23 that became an instant hit the day it was launched, and which today still has a strong following and active class.
It’s a small family keelboat, something more than a family caravan as it is relatively lightweight and easy to tow, making every puddle (possibly potholes too!) in the country accessible.
It’s a wonderful little boat, designed by Angelo Lavranos, and built by John Robertson Yachts, and which still continues to put “bums on boats”.
This report was published in SAILING Inland & Offshore magazine. Should anyone have copies on hand I would appreciating borrowing them as I am battling to complete the set in my archives.
