Yesterday I mentioned both Harold Cudmore and Bob Fisher who came to our Cape shores in December 1980 to compete in Rothmans Week and the Agulhas Race.
Those fortunate enough to sail with them, no doubt learnt a huge amount, especially those aboard Neil Bailey’s ‘Sensation’ when she took line honours in the Agulhas Race.
Here Bob Fisher interviews Harold Cudmore – a fiery Irishman who was simply able to bring out the magic in most boats he sailed. He was a tough and ruthless competitor which made him an asset on a boat, and always someone in high demand by owners launching new boats.
It’s a fascinating interview and well worth reading.
