“Talking Sailing” From My Archives. 1985 FBYC Spring Regatta & Hobie Nationals

by Richard Crockett

I am back from my sojourn at the Lipton Cup in False Bay, and ready again to keep sharing historical sailing news.

Today the False Bay Yacht Club Spring Regatta and the Pretoria Gypsey Hobie Nationals feature.

The Spring Regatta has a short report but loads of people and sailing pics. There are also the results of the top three in each of the six classes competing, and there are names in there which are certainly a blast from the past. I won’t spoil it for you by revealing those here.

The Hobie 16 Nationals were on Bronkhorstspruit Dam, with 72 boats competing, and full-on race-by-race coverage and overall results all the way to 12th place.
