When the cream of the skippers from 11 clubs meet to do battle, competition must be needle-sharp and rough. The best ever entry for the Transvaal Interclub event was received this year and 80 spectators on shore were treated to exciting and clever tactical racing. The teams were fairly evenly matched, although it was clear after the first round that Pretoria was going to be the team to beat.
Once again many of the well-known names in sailing at the time were competing, and although the report is shy of names, the many pics from the water and of the personalities make up for it.
My question though is simply this. Besides the Lipton Cup, are there any inter-club events taken seriously today?
