“Talking Sailing” From My Archives. 15 Sprog Pics Today

Sprog 558. Semiramis. Barry MacKellar. HYC.

by Richard Crockett

It’s been wonderful to see the interaction between old and new “Sprogites” to the Sprog material, and especially the pics, posted over the last week or more.

So to slake that thirst I have decided to share 15 of the more modern images I have in my archives – all black & white.

Trusting that these will continue to be LIKED, SHARED and COMMENTED on.

And please scour your files for old Sprog Logs.

Working up to a good lead in the Sprog Highveld champs are the winners Adam French and George Amoils sailing 962 ‘Sweet Chariot’.

Can anyone identify this Sprog crew and the venue?
Is this Saldanha Bay? Sea-Duce will be remembered by many an old UNYC member in the mid to late ’70s as she was a Club boat.
Michael Matter & Ronald Verhej, the new champs leading the fleet in the 3rd race.
Ralph and Kay Hersov of ERYC.
Four possible winners fighting hard in the Transvaal Junior Champs. Rounding a mark in the 3rd race. L-R. N Matter 901, H Amoils 904, M Matter 889 & T Amoils 900.
The two brother teams of Amoils (ERYC) and Matter (PSC) maintain a high level of excitement among the spectators.
Close together, heading for the weather mark are the Lucas brothers on 855, and Frans Uys with crew Johan Uys 871. The boat to the left is 695 skippered by Lee Reid.
