The South African ketch ‘Voortrekker’ slipped unexpectedly out of the fog here last night to take second place in the transatlantic singlehanded yacht race.
Bruce Dalling told reporters that his worst experience during the trip was being caught in a storm with winds of more than 60 knots on June 12.
It was the worst gale I have ever seen in my life,” he said. “That will live long in my memory. It was absolutely the worst.”
