The President’s email on the 17th October 2017 giving notice of a Special General Meeting (SGM)to vote on the adoption of an amended South African Sailing Constitution did not include
details of the intended venue. It, therefore, could not represent an official notice for an SGM although it complied with all other aspects required for such notification.
The notice of an SGM sent out on the 19th October 2017, which included the required details of date, venue and purpose of the SGM, falls one day short of the required notice period of 30 days.
The discrepancy has been raised as a stumbling block to the 16th of November meeting being Constitutionally correct.
It has accordingly been decided to reschedule the meeting to early next year given the advent of the Christmas holidays.
A further communication giving details of the rescheduling will be sent post the SA Sailing Council meeting to be held on the 24th November 2017.
