Sailing World Cup Miami – Two OCS Starts for RSA Duo

Asenathi Jim and Roger Hudson are seasoned international campaigners who know exactly what it takes to win races and finish on the podium. They also know that two OCS (on course side) results in race 3 and race 5 have significantly hurt their chances in an event they started off so well when they won race 1.

But that’s yacht racing – and top sailors will tell you that if you are not OCS at least once in 10 starts you are not starting well!

Lets just hope that with two OCS results under their belts, they have fine-tuned their starting techniques sufficiently to put OCS results behind them for the foreseeable future.

Having had some very light days, a steady wind of 6 – 10 knots was sustained throughout the day on day 3.

Jim and Hudson have, in races they have scored in, finished in the top 10, so they have it in them to qualify for the medal races where just the top 10 overall go through after the 10 race series. Their goal is to be in the medal race in all events they compete in, so for the next 4 races they have to keep their noses clean, their heads out of the boat, and finish in single digits.

Can they do it? Of course they can – so let’s all get behind them and support them all the way through tick and thin.

Their results to date:
9th overall – 1; 9; OCS; 10; OCS; 6
