Optimist African Champs. Great Sailing in Alexandria

Yesterday (4 July) there was lots of action on the water in Alexandria as Optimist sailors from Algeria, Morocco, Angola, Mozambique, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Tunisia, UAE, and of course Egypt compete for the 2017 African Optimist Championship.

Consistent winds and great race committee work is providing lots of good races for the young sailors.

Angola was triumphant in the Team Racing Championship yesterday.

Today, 5 July is the final day of racing and the new African Optimist Champion will be determined and crowned. At this stage Graciano Novaes of Angola leads, followed by Osvaldo Da Gama (ANG), Mahmoud el Tanboly (EGY) and Mohammad Safed El Mousaari (EGY).

The top girl going into the final day is Boussouar Amani of Algeria.
