NKA MOD Winter Series Results

by Kathy Manten

Ahoy there!

We have finally got our first series of races in the MOD Winter Series on the board. The first races were abandoned due to a lack of wind. There were eleven starters on the line on Sunday morning. A fair to middling fleet. We would love to have more participants and make this series really special. The winter winds are normally fantastic and the competition is up to you. Sharpen your skills and take on the regulars. I am sure we can get a whole lot more J22 and Formula Ones on the line.

I note that there are a whole lot of boats whose skipper, crew and club names are not listed. I was not on the water and therefore I have no idea who was sailing which boat. Please forward these results to any friends or fellow competitors who would like to receive a copy and request them to confirm/update their details with me.

Should anyone else wish to be added to the mailing list, let me know. Some boats are racing in the cruising fleet but I am not sure who they are either. Perhaps we can discuss having some class pennants made by NKA and competitors can fly these off their backstays to make it easier for the bridge to identify which boat is in which class. If I have got it wrong on the results, let me know and we will amend the scoring sheets forthwith. Failing that, each and every competitor should sail past the bridge boat prior to the start, introduce yourselves and inform them as to where you come from.

Congratulations to Chris Duff on his Formula One “Jolly Roger” and to J22 “Baby J” who together, share the number one spot on the podium this month. I am sure that the racing will hot up and these positions are going to be hotly contested as the season progresses.
