Seascape Marine Services have announced the release of a new Yanmar Saildrive. By introducing the SD15, Yanmar has answered significant demands from the world’s leading boat builders for a saildrive solution for larger sailboats with engines from 80hp to 150hp. This enables the 50′ to 65′ monohull and multihull sector to access, for the first time, the installation and user benefits associated with saildrive systems.
The SD15 can be coupled to the Yanmar 4JH80, 4JH110 and 4LV150 common rail engines, offering a new option to an extended range of sailboats and catamarans using higher horsepower engines that previously relied on conventional and V-drive lines.
Compact, easy and safe to install without any specific alignments required, the production process is simplified and costs are reduced.
With a hydrodynamic efficient design, the boat owner will experience low drag, improved propulsion efficiency and low fuel consumption, increasing comfort on-board for motoring while not under sail.
The SD15 sail drive, encased in aluminium and treated to maximize corrosion protection, is very durable and reliable ensuring longer service intervals.
The hydraulically actuated multi-disk clutches allows for smooth shifting performance including an integrated output shaft brake.
As Yanmar engines can be operated with both mechanical or electronic control heads, there is also the option of a mechanical shift valve or electronic shift solenoid. Resulting in fewer installation parts when used in conjunction with the Yanmar VC10 or VC20, fly-by-wire, control options.
