I had the pleasure of sailing the Margo Mackay night race this past weekend.
After arriving nice and early at SYC, I managed to carry out some maintenance on my “magic ‘Pora Fly” I was ready to launch by 14h30. Due to crew issues my colleague Ben Mienie, who had just finished launching his Krokodil, suggested that we “join up” and sail on one of our Dragonflies. So after having my Dragonfly on the slip way, I returned it to its parking place and proceeded to “join” our cooler boxes, food, torches and all the other stuff with my friend Ben Mienie’s dragonfly Krokodil.
What a fantastic decision, I had one of the most enjoyable sails ever on the dam. Whilst the wind did not always play its part, there was enough to make it a totally absorbing duel. I stand to be corrected but I believe there were seven yachts at the start. For those who missed this event I assure you that you missed out. Great Sunset and a full moon too.
I once again will look forward to this event next year – well done VCA. I will do my outmost to try get more yachts from SYC to participate.
A VERY BIG THAN YOU TO VCA, you guys deserve a medal, all the marks were professionally managed, by yachts, bridge boat & mark layer. The mark yachts were well lit, the crews were courteous and just managed by friendly people who really gave up their weekend to allow another seven yachts to participate. THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.
