Racing is always tough at the top of the Lipton Cup fleet, so to see that the results posted here are PROVISIONAL comes as no surprise as there is a protest pending. There is no confirmation as to exactly who is protesting, although the RNYC did fly a protest at a weather mark rounding against POYC.
Despite these shenanigans the day belonged to the RCYC team who grabbed the race by the scruff of its neck and won convincingly and going away to record their second win in four races – and giving them an unassailable overall lead.
The weather forecast for Cape Town tomorrow (Friday) is not looking favourable and the odds appear high that there will be no racing. However, should racing occur, the RCYC team will have to have a catastrophic result to relinquish their firm grip on the Lipton Cup.
For Greg Davis this will be his 13th victory – for some a bad omen – so bring it on and let’s see who really wins!
