Held over 21/22/23 March in Durban Bay by Island Sailing Club a disappointing turnout of 14 boats entered.
Friday sailing was held in a good breeze of 12-18 knots near the container terminal. Unfortunately breakages were the order of the day with 5 boats retiring with collapsed masts and torn sails!
Saturday saw 3 races sailed, and sailing stopped early in the afternoon due to 20 knot plus winds. Again breakages of several boats occurred.
After seeing the ISC lawn being used as a workshop to repair many Halcats, the final race day was sailed in the Island sailing area between the Maydon Wharf sand banks and the dry docks. 5 races were sailed in perfect 8 – 10 knot NE winds.
The overall winner was Steve Hegerstrom followed by Justin von Niebel and Marthinus Myburgh.ing at the 11th hour to deal with two protests.
