J22 Nationals. An Amazing Regatta

Well with an amazing Nationals behind us we look forward to some great Vaal sailing!

The J22 Nationals, sailed from PYC as part of MSC, was a great success!

As always our fleet of 19 Js out shone all other classes. The first day of racing was blown out, but going forward the wind and weather could not have been better, providing highly competitive racing with the top boats being within 1 point of each other, making it so tight that any one of several teams could take home the J22 National Trophy.

Dave Rushton and his team did a sterling job making the most of the winds and conditions, completing 10 races in 4 days.

Consistent, competitive sailing saw Advanced Valves, skippered by Richard Wiederholdt with Greg Plunkett and Marcus Seitz as crew, become the 2018 J22 National Champions.

Never underestimate the teams who have seen the test of time, Voodoo Skippered by Rob Wilcox, Shellee Nel and Rob Edwards close on their heels with a 2nd. Great to see Hakahana on the water skippered by Peter Funke who finished 3rd.

Our sincere thanks to Gill and all the team at PYC for their organisation, support and well run regatta for all competitors. We look forward to our next regatta in Durban.

Think Global, Act Local
The Think Global, Act Local – keep our waters clean campaign sponsored by Monkey Republic saw just over 29Kg of recyclable products collected and processed for recycling.

The runaway winner was the team on Andiamo who donated their R1000.00 prize to the NSRI Station 22 at the Vaal. I have no doubt this is greatly appreciated.
