The Distell Holiday 23 Fun Worlds were held last week in Port Owen. This event takes place every two years and is a highlight in the Port Owen and Holiday 23 Sailing Calendars, seeing many Holiday 23 owners travel from the Vaal and beyond to take place.

This year’s Worlds saw 22 boats on the start line – six from POYC, three from RCYC, 1 from ZYC in Richards Bay, one from GBYC, one from FBYC, one from SBYC, 2 from Mykonos, six from the Vaal and one from Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe – an impressive selection!

Racing including round the cans racing in St Helena Bay and Distance racing to and from Britannia Bay, with a night spent on the yachts in Britannia Bay.

There was very close racing between the first three boats, with one point between them.  Arch rivals and close friends Kevin Webb and Frank Stuyck again tussled for first place but it was Port Owen local Frank Stuyck and his crew on Sea Mist that took first place.

Final results:
1 Sea Mist           Frank Stuyck
2 Maximillian    Kevin Webb
3 Annie               Morne Basson
4 Barato             Patrick Knobel
5 Aqua Fox        Ray van Rensburg
