The closest boat to the finish is now Rocket/Stop Rhino Poaching with 426nm to go, followed by Investec Ciao Bella with 551 to go. At their average speeds they have another 2 and three days left to sail – assuming the wind doesn’t get any lighter than they are!

With all the key positions now filled and confirmed, it’s really a case of those at sea having to accept the fact that they are now ‘also rans’ who are filling the minor positions. Not a good feeling when you have days rather than hours left at sea.

In Class 2 IRC, Yolo and Perie Banou Roly Tasker continue to trade handicap places almost on a daily basis, and will for at least another 5 days before they finish.

Amongst the cats, the closest one to finishing is Nomad Yacht Charters followed by Tulliana and then the 75-footer HQ2 – but don’t expect them for another 4 days or more.

There is some good banter coming off the boats in various blogs, reports and mails, and these are worth reading on the official race site.
