MAC 12-Hour Challenge

mac 12-hourUPDATE 1 October 2014

All of six months has passed since you last heard from me… but I’ve been watching you all honing your sailing skills in preparation for the MAC Challenges!!

Sailing, like most other sports, has become an all year round sport. Winter sailing has been fun, but the Summer MAC Challenges offer the most exciting thrills and spills in sailing.

Are you ready for the 7th annual MAC 12 HOUR CHALLENGE on Saturday 25 October 2014 …..in 24 days time?

Due to the limited number of single handed class dinghies in S.A., the 2014 challenge will be for all monohull class dinghies. However, in order to win a cash prize in each class, the class needs to consist of five dinghies or more. A class of less than five will sail in the Open class. By allowing all monohull dinghies to sail the 12 hour challenge, will give all sailors, irrespective of age or sailing skills, the opportunity to have fun, challenging each other on Rietvlei, to see who sails the fastest lap and who  crosses the finish line first after 12 hours.

All sailors are welcome to enter the challenge, NOR and entry forms are posted on the club website www.milnertonaquaticclub.co.za or available from the club office Tel: 021-557 7090 and speak to Debbie or Denice for further info.

The challenge is also on, to see if our local sailors can achieve better sailing times than the UK sailors at Southport Sailing Club, England….. so come on all you hotshot sailors, scramble a team and enter the 12 Hour Challenge in the build up to the MAC 24 Hour Challenge 2015 ….. in 164 days time.

Only teams that have entered the challenge may camp over on the Friday evening, to be ready for the 06h30 start on the Saturday.
