420 U17 Worlds. Brilliant Opening Races by RSA

Matt Ashwell & Rivaldo Arendse.

The young South African team of Matt Ashwell and Rivaldo Arendse sailed two brilliant races yesterday, the opening day of the 420 U17 Worlds, to finish with two 8th places to have them 12th overall after day 1.

In a fleet of 66 that’s a fine performance for these two youngsters.

The breeze was around 13-16 knots, perfect for these two guys who train in Cape Town.

Matt Ashwell won the 2018 Optimist African Championship, while Rivaldo Arendse was part of the winning RCYC Lipton Cup team last year, and competes at a high level on both dinghies and keelboats.
