29er Worlds. The REAL Test Starts Now

The qualifying series is now over, and the Gold Fleet are set for battle for the world championship title and podium places.

The RSA team of Benji Daniel & Alex Burger are in 3rd place after the first of these gold fleet races, with 50 boats in the fleet.

Prior to that they won race 7 of the qualifiers, but ended badly with a 17 and 12 – yet still 3rd overall in the qualifiers. In five of their 9 races they had top 10 finishes.

Conditions for the day were light and unstable, yet our RSA guys were in the hunt right up to the finish line.

For them, their real test has just begun as they need to put aside all nerves, doubts and anything else that may distract them, and simply concentrate on the job at hand and sail to the very best of their ability. It’s easy to say, and more difficult to actually do, but so far they have sailed exceptionally well and show that they have the potential to be on the podium – and even world champions.
