If you want to race dinghies or catamarans, then the Southern Charter Grand Slam Series is the top sailing series in not only the Western Cape but the whole of Southern Africa.
This is the 3rd year of the Southern Charter Grand Slam series and the committee have learnt a great deal and the event constantly evolves to offer better events for the participants and supporters. This year we are excited to announce all events are away from the City of Cape Town offering neutral venue’s to select a Grand Slam champion. With 2 Offshore venues and 2 inshore venues the events are hosted in the top sailing waters of the Western Cape. The Grand Slam Series consistently gets over 200 competitors at every event, making these spectacles of sailing an experience nobody wants to miss.
Our first event, Grand Slam 1 which incorporates the Mosquito/ Fireball Nationals and EC Champs is to be hosted in sunny Mossel Bay – see here for Regatta information and accommodation . After a bitterly cold winter in Cape Town sailors will enjoy some sunny weather on the South Coast voted as the best climate in the world after Hawaii. This will certainly launch us into SUMMER!
The Southern Charter Grand Slam series are the best weekends away that the whole family can enjoy. If you own a boat, can borrow a boat, charter a boat. Make sure you get there to enjoy great sailing, awesome parties, make new friends. Better yet join in on the Friday night to give you and your family a great weekend away.
