RSA Youth to Compete Internationally

A strong team of local youth sailors will be competing in the ISAF Youth World Championships in Tavira, Portugal from 12 – 19 July.

The team is:
One Person Dinghy Boys        Marcello Marcia
One Person Dinghy Girls        Emma Clark
Two Person Dinghy Boys        Dominic Van der Walt & Ryan Robinson
Open Skiff                                  Euan & Sean Hurter
Open Multihulls                       Brandon Wittenberg & Todd Fisher

The Open Skiff boys, the Hurter brothers, will be competing in two events prior to the ISAF event, and fly out this Friday.

They will compete in Kiel Week in Germany from 21 – 29 June, followed by the Eurocup in Weymouth, United Kingdom, on 5 – 6 July. From there they will join the rest of the South African team in Portugal.

“For our first international out, I am very nervous but that is to be expected. The opportunity that has presented itself is phenomenal and the learning curve is going to be huge! I just want to make sure we make every part of it worth it.” said 18 year old Euan Hurter.
