Jof Heathcote our man on the scene and the sole South African competitor at the Moth Worlds reports.
No racing today. It was raining sideways all morning, blowing 20-30knots. There was a bit of a class vote at 15h00 and the result was fairly predictable. The silver fleet said no, the gold said yes.
We went out briefly, but it was blowing a fairly solid 20 knots against the tide, and the chop was enormous (and vertical). Total carnage. I was stoked to sail up and downwind for a bit without crashing. We then got sent back and I stacked it really hard a couple of times getting back downwind to the beach. Fortunately with no breakages. That’s more than can be said for a lot of people.
There is a bit of a bad forecast for tomorrow and Friday, but hopefully we will get something decent in.
