Let’s ALL Keep Cape Town a Volvo Ocean Race Stopover

This is an URGENT plea to all yachties and those landlubbers who enjoy the exploits of those who put to sea in small boats to support the race village throughout the period Cape Town hosts the Volvo Ocean Race.

Cape Town was not originally a stopover for this race which meant that the fleet would have bypassed the ‘Tavern of the Seas’.

To keep Cape Town as a first-choice stopover in the future we need to make sure that as many people as possible support the Volvo Ocean race Village and all the activities surrounding the Cape Town stopover.

The Race Village will be officially inaugurated this Saturday – 1 November so please be there and enjoy the festivities being staged as follows:
18h00 – Start of opening Race Village Show
18h30 – Mark Haze Band performs
19h15 – Intro to the Cape Town Carnival procession
19h30-19h45  – Official ceremony

Arrival of the fleet
It is impossible to give an accurate arrival date for the fleet as many factors come into play. At the moment, the first arrivals are expected between 5 and 7 November. The best way to keep up to date is to watch the Dashboard section and the Tracker. As the fleet approaches Cape Town we’ll have a better idea of when the arrivals could take place.

Like this, and/or comment, if you will support the need to keep Cape Town involved in this classic ocean race.
